Equator Add-Ons
» Active Wash Station (Equator only) »
The active wash station consists of a weir wash station with 8 holes with an inlet and outlet port at the bottom. A peristaltic pump supplied with the active wash station continuously pumps wash liquid from a source bottle to the inlet port on the weir and subsequently up through the 8 holes (allocated to each tip on the 8 channel device) and the liquid overflows back down inside the station where it is drained through the outlet port connected to a waste bottle.
During a wash cycle fresh wash solution is continually pumped through the system and washing of the tips internally and externally occurs as a result. The level of acceptable carryover dictates the number of wash cycles to be implemented. Levels below 1 in 10,000 parts are typically achieved within five cycles.

This is the latest wash station available with the system and corresponds to rapid washing programs that achieve carryover below 1 in 110,000 parts within 60seconds.
The principle of the wash procedure is highlighted in the diagram below.
On initiation of the wash program an automatic switching valve links the pipetting tips to a pressurized bottle containing the desired wash solution and the valves on the pipetting tips are opened to allow a flush through of wash liquid over a programmed time. This is controlled through the spot station software on the Equator™ liquid handling system and parameters including time and volume can be programmed accordingly.

» Multiple Reservoirs (Equator only) »
In addition to the standard 12mL reservoir that is available on the Equator there are a number of reservoir options that can be added
- 3 x 13ml reservoirs (see picture), each reservoir can be added and removed independently.
- 1 x 80ml large volume reservoir.
» Disposable reservoirs »
6mL disposable reservoirs are also available where rapid exchange of liquids is required.
» Single well 15ml trough »
Customized for single channel systems. This trough slopes to one single point to ensure minimise dead volume at 20µL.
» Anti-static ion bar (Equator only) »
The Equator has a full customized anti static bar that is incorporated into the robotic system of the Equator. This simple and easy to use ion bar is then triggered to activate upon initiation of the pipetting head to perform an aspirate task. In this manner just prior to dispense of liquid from the dispense tips, the destination well plate is removed of static, thus enabling sample liquid to hit the central point in the destination well.

The Equator and Latitude devices comes fully equipped with an active-X control module that enables a simple interface for the Equator to be fully integrated with a number of stacking devices.
